The Town of Prosper hosted a Public Meeting to discuss the design of Coit Road, from First Street to Frontier Parkway, from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, August 23, 2019. The meeting was held at the Council Chambers located in Town Hall at 250 W First Street.
The Town of Prosper is designing a 4-lane roadway that does not require additional property from residents along Coit Road, and invited resident comments and discussion. Based on feedback from area residents, the Town Council approved an amendment to the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), and allocated an additional $200,000 in the FY 2018-2019 Budget for the redesign of the Coit Road project, bringing the total design budget to $600,000. The project design will be funded out of the East Thoroughfare Impact Fee Fund. Town staff will prepare an amendment to the Thoroughfare Plan portion of the Comprehensive Plan to specifically modify only the section of Coit Road north of Prosper Trail where there is not 120 feet of right-of-way. This will not affect the intersection widening improvements at Prosper Trail. A Public Hearing on the Comprehensive Plan Amendment was held at the October 2, 2019 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, and at the October 9, 2019 Town Council meeting where the Town Council considered the proposed amendment.
The Town amended the Thoroughfare Plan to reflect the initial construction of the interior two lanes of Coit Road north of Prosper Trail where there is not existing 120 feet of right-of-way. The Town Council awarded a contract amendment to the Consultant for the redesign effort.
The funding of the construction of Coit Road will be coordinated with the Collin County Road Bond program. For more information contact the Town's Engineering Department at 972-346-3502.
