Read Press Release

PROSPER, TX – August 2, 2024 – The community is invited to commemorate a milestone as The 407 Rec Center celebrates its fifth anniversary on August 8 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event will offer a family-friendly celebration at 407 E. First St. and the adjacent Boyer Park. This free event will feature live music, snow cones, lawn games, balloon artists and a bounce house, ensuring a fun-filled evening for all ages!

The 407 Rec Center, a cornerstone of the Prosper community, has been the hub for the Parks and Recreation Department's year-round camps and classes, providing a dedicated space for gatherings and recreational activities.

Parking for the event will be available on the streets near Boyer Park, at the Parks and Recreation Administrative offices at 409 E. First St., and across the street at the PISD Family Resource Building at 410 E. First St.

Dan Baker, Director of Parks and Recreation, expressed his excitement, "We can’t wait to celebrate The 407’s fifth anniversary with our residents. Our staff has planned a fun event and we hope you’ll come and spend the evening with us!”

The opening of The 407 Rec Center on August 8, 2019, marked a new chapter for Parks and Recreation. Originally serving as the Town’s only fire station until the Central Fire Station was completed in 2004, the building then housed the Development Services Department until they moved to Town Hall in August 2018. Seizing the opportunity, the Parks and Recreation Board voted in June 2019 to create The 407 Rec Center, transforming it into a vibrant community resource.

Today, The 407 Rec Center continues to serve the Prosper community by hosting Youth and Adult classes, as well as Active Adult 55+ games and programs. Registration for fall classes and programs is now open at prospertx.gov/programs.
