Covering approximately 27 square miles, Prosper has an estimated population of 42,600 residents. Once fully developed, the town is projected to accommodate around 72,000 residents. About the Prosper Police Department
The Prosper Police Department is a full-service municipal department that currently has a staff of 67 officers, 18 civilian support staff as well 5 Citizens on Patrol and 5 Police Chaplain Volunteers that provide service to our rapidly growing community.

- Control the number of crimes through preventative measures. Control the number of crimes through post-crime investigations, apprehensions, prosecutions, and convictions.
- Reduce the adverse impact of crimes by recovering and returning stolen property.
- Maintain effective coordination and communications with all other Criminal Justice agencies to ensure impartial and effective enforcement of all laws.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of civil defense, disaster, and disorder services.
- Provide police assistance to citizens and visitors in the Town when such a need for assistance is observed.
