PROSPER, TX – April 17, 2024 – The Town of Prosper is excited to announce that planning is underway for the 2024 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan! This comprehensive blueprint, slated to be finalized in December 2024, will chart the course for the evolution of Prosper’s park system. It will encompass recommendations for land acquisition, park expansion, development and tailored programming and activities for all ages. Additionally, it will explore the feasibility of a future multi-generational facility to accommodate Prosper's rapidly growing population.
Community input is vital to this process! The Resident Survey is now open to all Prosper residents, providing a platform to share ideas and preferences in shaping the future of our parks and recreation. Look out for a postcard in your mailbox with instructions on accessing the survey. Alternatively, you can find the survey link at prospertx.gov/parksmasterplan.
As a token of appreciation for participating in the survey, a random drawing among all respondents will be held offering gift cards from a variety of sources including Amazon, Downtown Prosper merchants and the Parks and Recreation Department.
Dan Baker, Director of Parks and Recreation, emphasized the significance of community feedback in this process: “The feedback we receive from survey responses is the most important element of this Master Plan update process. Town staff need to know what types of park and recreation facilities Prosper’s residents want for their future. The more information we get from residents, the better we can plan our future funding and development strategies.”
The Town has commissioned the expertise of Dunaway Associates to prepare this Master Plan. This collaborative process will engage residents, Town staff, a specially appointed Advisory Committee, the Prosper Parks and Recreation Board and the Prosper Town Council. The 2024 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan represents a significant update to the Town’s original Parks Master Plan created in 2015.
