Below you will find information that might help you understand how to find things or learn about information you might need to know about your city or town.

  • NEW card application is available via a 2-part process: 1. Online/Digital application submission (you can complete remotely or at the library) AND 2. In-Person registration completion at the library within 30 days of submitting the online application submittal.  Online applications are for adult memberships only. Juveniles/children may be added at the time of registration completion at the library.  Membership Renewals do not require a new application.   • Paid memberships apply to those who do not pay a Town of Prosper utility bill or the CPR/C48 (Prosper Town) tax. The cost is $50 per library cardholder annually.  In-person membership renewal and payment are required annually.  Identification requirements are the same for a resident.  NEW card application is available via a 2-part process: 1.   • The Prosper Community Library is funded through the town tax funds (CPR/C48) paid by Town of Prosper residents.

  • Prosper postal addresses go up to three miles beyond the border of the Town of Prosper, but this does not mean you pay the CPR/C48 (Prosper Town) tax or are provided utility services (get a utility bill) by the Town of Prosper.

  • We offer a Limited Membership to those “gray area” residents who do not have legal ties to their place of residence but who live in a household in which CPR/C48 (Prosper Town) taxes are paid.  Please see a library staff member to determine if you qualify.

  • The library card membership fee is based on your city/town of residence. Library privileges are determined by permanent resident address.

  • Collin County Appraisal District or Denton County Appraisal District databases will be referenced to determine which city or town a library card applicant pays their taxes. Prosper postal addresses go up to three miles beyond the border of Prosper, but this does not mean you pay a Prosper town tax.

  • There are two (2) categories of memberships: Free & Paid.  Free memberships expire bi-annually (every 2 years).  Paid memberships expire annually.  Renewal is easy, just drop by the library, no new application is necessary.  In-person renewal and proof of residency are required. Please see the Acceptable Residence Verification Documents for the two primary ways to prove residency.

  • Annual membership begins the day you complete the application and registration process and pay your membership fee.  Your membership will expire one year from that date. There will be no pro-rated refund of any annual fee upon moving and no longer being a Prosper CPR/C48 (Prosper Town) taxed resident.

  • The Library is open on Monday - Thursday from 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.  You can find the most up-to-date information about Library services and programs by vising the Town of Prosper Library Department page.

  • Yes, LinkedIn Learning is a leading online learning platform that helps anyone learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. All you need to get started is a library card. Reminder: the username is your library card number and the PIN is the phone number you listed on your library membership application (no dashes). Texshare Databases in the library offers many learning sources too.

  • Printing/Copying - letter and legal-sized paper available (only Town of Prosper provided paper is allowed; i.e., patron's paper is not allowed in our machines)

    • ALL copies/prints are 20 cents per page whether in color or black & white or if they are one-sided or two-sided. 
    • Printing is only available via the library's public computers; i.e., patron must have their file in an email (that they can log into on our public computers) or on a jump drive. Air printing or printing directly from the patron's devices or laptop is not available.
    • Cash required for 14 pages or less.
    • Credit/Debit Card allowed for 15 or more pages.
    • Scanning - no charge.
    • Library membership is not required.

  • Yes, via both cloudLibrary® and Libby®.

    The library's catalog and mobile app, Aspen LiDA, searches and displays the results from both our 32,000+ item physical collection as well as a sampling* of 700,000+ titles in the two digital collections. Patrons can browse and borrow items directly from our catalog but must utilize the free cloudLibrary or Libby apps (depending on which service they checked-out the title) to read or listen to the borrowed item. Patrons can search and download the cloudLibrary and Libby apps from their device's app store. 

    *Searching cloudLibrary and Libby directly (or through their apps) will result in a more robust listing of available titles.

  • You can renew a library book online by logging into your library account. However, if an item is overdue or if another patron has placed the book on hold, it may not be renewed online. To log in, you will need your library card number and the 10-digit phone number submitted on your membership application for your password.

  • We do not charge for overdue or late items. However, accounts are locked once items are delinquent.

  • Wi-Fi hotspots may be borrowed by Prosper Community Library members ages 18 and above with a library card in good standing. Checkout is limited to one per household at any given time. The library reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who abuse equipment, who are repeatedly late in returning items, and those who have delinquent returns that require disconnection.   • Wi-Fi hotspots are available at the Circulation Desk on a first-come, first-served basis. They may not be reserved or placed on hold. To borrow a hotspot, the patron must have their library card or valid government ID and must complete and agree to the Electronic Device Agreement. Once a hotspot is checked out to a patron, it becomes the responsibility of that patron. Hotspots are not intended to be a long-term internet solution. Hotspots may be checked out for two weeks with an optional renewal of two weeks with your library card membership. We reserve the right to implement restrictions if checkout is being abused.   • Hotspots may be borrowed for two weeks and may be renewed one time within a 30-day period. They must be returned in person to the Circulation Desk, and never to another library, left outside the library door, or in the book drop. If a hotspot is not returned or returned damaged, the borrower will be charged the replacement value (currently  $184.99 ). If a device is not returned in a timely manner, civil and criminal action will be taken. If the borrower fails to pay the replacement cost for a lost device, their membership will be suspended until the account is clear.   • We do not have any volunteer opportunities at this time.

  • Study rooms are not available to be reserved in advance. The study rooms are used on a first-come, first-served basis for a maximum of 4 people. They are guaranteed for 2 hours of use (or until closing, whichever comes first). After two hours, if no one is waiting, you may continue to use it until it is needed. If someone is waiting, you will be asked to vacate at the end of your two hours. The Conference Room can be reserved up to one (1) week in advance for groups larger than 4 with a maximum of 8. Reservations for the conference room must be made in person by the library member who will be in attendance for the entirety of the reservation. Study rooms and conference room spaces are only available to library cardholders in good standing.
