Committed to Responsible Leadership in our Town. If you are interested in serving on a board or commission, we're looking for strong leaders. Interested residents may submit an application at any time.
Applications can now be submitted for the fall 2025 appointment(s). The deadline to submit an application for the fall has passed. Thank you for your interest in serving. Applications accepted will be held until next year or if mid-year appointments are held.
Board and Commission Appointment Policies & Procedures
Membership Qualifications
- You need to be a Prosper resident or reside within the Town's ETJ for a minimum of one year.
- You need to be willing to attend regularly scheduled meetings and participate in events as they pertain to each board/commission.
- You must be a registered voter with your current residence address submitted on the application.
How to Apply
Residents may apply online or pick up an application in person at the Town Secretary's office at Prosper Town Hall, 250 W. First Street, Third Floor. Applicants are encourage to attend at least one meeting of the board or commission of interest prior to applying.
Appointment Process
All applications received, including those from incumbents, will be reviewed and considered for interview. Interviews are typically held in late August and early September. Appointments are made in September and effective October 1. All appointees must attend a mandatory orientation conducted by the Town Secretary and Town Attorney.
Meeting Attendance
Board members who miss three (3) consecutive meetings or more than 25% of the board’s regularly scheduled meetings held during a 12-month period immediately preceding and including the absence in question, without explanation acceptable to a majority of the other members, shall forfeit his or her position on the board, commission, or committee.

Board of Adjustment / Construction Board of Appeals
The board hears and determines appeals of administrative decisions, petitions for variances, and other matters as may be required by the Town Council or by law.

Community Engagement Committee
The Community Engagement Committee was established by the Town Council for the purpose of enhancing the Town’s interaction with the public.

Community Library Board
The Library Board reviews library performance and advises library staff on the development of library policy.

Downtown Advisory Committee
The Downtown Ad Hoc Committee was established by the Town Council for the purpose of implementing the Downtown Master Plan.

Parks & Recreation Board
The Parks & Recreation Board encourage the development of parks and recreation programs and facilities, recommend the acquisition of additional parks, equipment and supplies, participate with Collin and Denton County to acquire grant funding, and assist in the planning process of program development goals and objectives.

Parks Master Plan Advisory Committee
The Master Parks Master Plan was established by the Town Council for the purpose of updating the Parks Master Plan.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission approves or makes recommendations on various land development applications, as well as has the authority to approve site plans and subdivision plats and makes recommendations to the Town Council on zoning requests, amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and amendments to the Comprehensive Plan.

TIRZ No. 1
The Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board Number 1 (TIRZ 1) facilitates the decisions concerning the area of development at the northeast corner of US 380 and Preston Road.

TIRZ No. 2
The Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board Number 2 (TIRZ 2) facilitates the decisions concerning the area of development at the northwest corner of US 380 and Preston Road and Dallas North Tollway.

TIRZ No. 3
The Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board Number 3 (TIRZ 3) facilitates the decisions concerning the area of development located along the Dallas North Tollway generally bound by Frontier Parkway, US Highway 380, North Coleman Street, and West of the Dallas North Tollway along existing/future Shawnee Trail.
